Quality Inspector Engineer - based in Orlando, Fl.
Coordinate and perform FAI/Source Inspection functions including: Quality Audits, evaluations, reviews, improvements and customer collaboration associated with projects and processes. Review & inspect CCA product, harnesses, wiring, BTS /BTP (Built to Specification /Print) products @ contract manufacturers and initiate appropriate actions. Assist in reviewing QA processes, Work Instructions, Quality Records and Source Inspection instructions. Establish and maintain artifacts for established Quality Assurance processes.

  • Quality Audits: Participate (as required) in internal, external and customer audits of products (i.e.; FAI /SI) and processes to assure compliance to requirements in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 or AS9100C. Formal certification in performing quality audits (Internal Audits) is a plus.
  • Corrective/Preventative Action System: Coordinate in the investigation of nonconforming product (field returns, systemic internal nonconformance’s, supplier issues, etc.) to determine root cause and corrective (or preventative) action plans necessary to avoid reoccurrence. Handling and follow-up of deviations.
  • Process Improvement: Participate with Process Improvement Teams (PIT) in the continuous improvement of existing processes for Contract Manufacturers & C4ATS.
  • Supplier Quality Assurance: Execute in qualification surveys to ensure that suppliers are qualified to provide the specified product, service or process, as assigned. Conduct on-site quality surveys, First Article Inspections (FAI) and Source Inspections, as required.
  • Manufacturing Support: Serve as an electrical quality assurance representative on the Material Review Board (MRB), which may include tracking of MRB decisions to ensure the required actions are completed prior to final approval.
  • Configuration & Documentation Control: Monitor & Control system to verify change control process allowing identification of product document & configuration at Contract Manufacturers site.
  • Periodically provide reports to customers including a semi- annual overall Quality Report.
  • May be required to support other activities to whatever extent their skills and knowledge may allow.

Education and Experience
  • Associate Degree in Engineering or related electrical science to include technical education in electronics with an overall combined minimum of seven (7) years of experience and/or education in Quality Assurance of Electrical CCA’s & Assemblies. No less than 5 year’s QA Source Inspection experience plus higher level education.
  • Practical experience may be considered as an acceptable alternate to formal training under exceptional circumstances on a case by case basis.
  • Formal technical education as electrical engineer or senior technician in electronics.
  • Predominance in production and inspection processes in the following fields: Assembly of Circuit Boards (PCB) and Electromechanical assemblies; Harnesses & Wiring.
  • Read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation and contracts. Capable of using related measurement tools (micrometers, coordinate measurement machine (CMM), microscope, digital test equipment, etc., as required).
  • Extensive experience in testing processes of electrical sub-assemblies, BTS products and Build-To-Print (BTP) items.
  • Proficient in the Source Inspection and evaluation of hardware and associated contract manufacturing processes and providing daily /weekly reports.
  • Experience in Contract Manufacturing CCA Inspection, in accordance with IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD-001; Class 3 & ISO9001 /AS9100C processes required.
  • Certified Quality Engineer and ASQ Member is a plus.
  • Defense industry experience is a plus.
  • Internal Auditor Certification a plus.
Basic employment requirements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications software & databases.
  • Ability to analyze problems and apply knowledge of quality and contract requirements, manufacturing processes, inspection concepts and AQL acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team assisting in the resolution of product and process quality issues. Take a lead role in guiding the team.
  • Requires above average written and verbal communication skills and inter-personal skills with an ability to understand define and communicate issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be able to work long hours, as needed, including constant overnight/weekly travel to subcontractor’s sites.
  • Must be able to travel domestically & internationally.
  • Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Ability to interpret various forms of assembly documentation.
  • Must be focused and have high attention to detail.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US and be eligible to obtain a passport.
  • Must pass Security background screening process.
